Archery Tasters & Beginner Courses
Our club provides 2 general types of events for people that want to experience archery, these are a beginners course or a taster session. Beginners courses allow you to receive the training to join a club and shoot regularly whilst taster sessions allow you to experience the sport under supervision from our coaches without feeling like there is any commitment to join up.
The Beginners Course
As a club we currently run 2 beginner courses a year which are tailored towards anybody that wants to join an archery club and start shooting on a regular basis. The course itself consists of 3 consecutive shooting sessions at our indoor venue that cover the fundamental aspects of archery clubs and shooting in addition to getting you to a standard allowing safe shooting without direct supervision by a coach.
By the end of a beginners course you will be a confident beginner archer with experience shooting at distances up to 20 yards on both unsighted recurve (barebow) and sighted recurve bows. Provided you pass the course you will be able to shoot with the Ramsey Ravens Archery Club and will be issued with a certificate of completion which you can use to show your competency.
Archery Taster / Experience Sessions
In addition to our beginners course, we run regular taster sessions where we offer anyone the chance to book and shoot under the supervision of our coaches. Each session is approximately the length of one of our regular shooting sessions so you get a feel for what shooting with a club is like. During the taster session you will be taught the basic safety aspects of an archery range and how to shoot an unsighted recurve "barebow" at a 10yd target.
We also have experience running taster sessions & archery experiences for businesses, community groups and other similar events. Please note that if you wish to participate in an event you will need to be appropriately dressed; Please refrain from wearing open toed footwear as you will not be allowed to participate. It is also advisable that you do not wear any piercings as you may be asked to remove any piercings that could catch on the bowstring to prevent injury.
